Emmanuel is prayerfully seeking God’s direction in finding a Lead Pastor for our South Barrie campus.

Who We Are

We are a large body of believers who are excited to see how God is working in and through us as we seek to “love God deeply, love others authentically and share Christ joyfully.” We are a multi-church ministry, one church comprised of 3 local campuses, with a commitment to seeking God’s will in the launching of new campuses. We are a church that believes in multiplying leaders as God provides new opportunities for ministry. We are seeking a Lead Pastor who has that same passion and vision and will continue to lead us in accomplishing the Great Commission by living and fulfilling the Great Commandment.

Emmanuel Barrie South campus has a 94-year history in Barrie, Ontario. We are a large, regional church (avg 1300 Sunday attendance) that has grown along with the population of our area. Our team currently includes 8 pastors, 4 directors and 7 support staff. Our Sunday gatherings strive to involve participatory worship and clear biblical preaching. We are a multi-generational church family with balanced programming that reflects our desire to be outwardly focused in evangelism as well as giving many opportunities for biblical growth and spiritual maturity. We affirm a complementarian understanding of the roles of men and women in the church.

Our Lead Pastor will demonstrate these spiritual gifts:

Teacher/Preacher – Committed to clear expositional teaching/preaching. He will present the meaning and intent of the biblical text, providing commentary and examples to make the passage clear, understandable and applicable to the congregation.

Along with a combination of:

Shepherd/Leader – Passionately loves the Body of Christ—the Church. He has great compassion for the lost and a heart for seekers and the unchurched. He cares about seeing others come to know Jesus. He has the ability to be liked and connect with others as a shepherd.

Apostle/Evangelist – Committed to the larger vision of the Great Commission, calling the congregation to righteousness and holiness for the purpose of expanding the Kingdom of God in Barrie, Simcoe County, Canada and the uttermost parts of the world.

Who We Are Seeking

Spiritual Maturity – A deep, personal vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced in daily life and exhibiting character qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter: 5:1-4.

Visionary leader – strategically interprets and applies the vision of Emmanuel to the context of the South Barrie campus. Leads both the staff and congregation in fulfilling our mission as a large, regional church.

Multiplying Leader – Nurtures mentor/mentee relationships to intentionally make disciples who make disciples.

Team Builder – Develop a culture of strong teamwork and collaborative relationships that are marked by trust, unity in spirit, mutual care and support.

Team player – Someone who people will follow. He delegates appropriate levels of responsibility and authority to others, putting the best people in the right places of ministry. A servant leader, who embraces the diverse giftings of others to strengthen the ministry.

Peacemaker – Humbly leads in responding to specific pastoral situations including conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.

Committed Learner – Committed to life-long learning, studying scripture, keeping current with biblical scholarship as well as trends in leadership and discipleship, awareness of cultural trends, development of skills and gifts.

Effective Communicator – Capable and articulate with strong communications skills in public speaking and leadership development.

Major Responsibilities

Primary Preacher/Teacher at the Emmanuel Barrie South campus.

Provide leadership in vision casting, and in discerning God’s direction for the local campus.

Lead the church to align all ministries and activities with Emmanuel’s mission, vision and values.

Provide pastoral leadership and overall management to a team of pastors, directors and staff.

Exercise servant leadership over all significant activities, such as the hiring of all staff, church policies, implementing the general ministry direction and guiding budgetary spending.

Serve on the Multi-Site team (under the leadership of the EBC Lead Pastor) Oversight of the shepherding care of the congregation.

Represent and participate in Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist (FEB) Churches of Canada events at the national and regional level.


Agrees with and subscribes to Emmanuel’s Statement of Faith. Candidate fully aligns with the mission, vision and values of Emmanuel.

Preferred Master of Divinity or equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree in Theology as a minimum would be considered if pursuing further theological training, and/or life experience that brings a rich biblical understanding of pastoral ministry and discipleship.

Experience in pastoral ministry in a large growing multi-staff church in a lead role for at least 5+ years, which involved preaching and the supervision of multiple staff.

Licensed as an ordained minister.
