Life Group Co-Leader

Life Groups at Emmanuel play a very important role in our church community because connection with one another is crucial, especially in a large church. Co-leaders are growing believers who can love others well as they disciple, mentor and walk alongside them on the road to Christian maturity. In their supporting role, Co-leaders will share ideas and responsibilities with Life Group Leaders and help set a good example of co-operative care of the group.Having a strong ethic of collaboration, good character and a teachable heart are of great value in this role. Leadership is learned, and this is an excellent training ground or starting place! Your key goals will be to walk alongside your Life Group leader as you align with our Life Group purpose at Emmanuel: to encourage your Life Group to grow their lives in Christ through Bible study and prayer; to do life together in service and to care for one another, the Emmanuel family and our Barrie community; and to share your lives in Christ with those who are far from God in your closest spheres of influence.Training and/or preliminary guidance will be provided before starting out!In this role your responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):
+ Acting in a supporting role to your Life Group leader as you meet in a home with 8-12 life group participants from Emmanuel Barrie.
+ Learning about and assisting with any Bible study preparation as you and your leader determine.
+ Assisting with facilitation of the discussion during Life Group meetings as you and your leader determine.
+ Praying for and shepherding your Life Group.
+ Doing life with your group both within and outside of your group meetings as opportunities/needs arise.Commitment: 1 Β½ – 2 hours once a week, or bi-weekly, as you and your group decide. The day and time are flexible. Attend two Life Group leader meetings a year to connect with other Life group leaders and co-leaders to discuss/share topical ideas re: leading Life Groups.Requirements: A one-on-one meeting with Tracey Steffens, Director of Life Groups; be an attendee of Emmanuel for a minimum of 1 year; membership at Emmanuel Church.
